I love Sunday Morning
As a fan of Seanan McGuire's October Daye books I couldn't wait for the first installment of her new series.
It was not a disappointment!
The new world is just as well imagined as anything else she's written. Verity is just as developed as any of McGuire's previous characters. Despite the fact that both she and Toby have similar jobs it's amazing how incredibly different Verity is from any of McGuire's past creations.
Discount Armageddon is slightly more lighthearted than her other work, the humor she's known for certainly doesn't seem out of place. It's one of the most readable things I have ever read, griping you almost immediately and helping you forget that you've been reading for the last two hours.
Some fans will be pleased to know that there's a little more in the way of flesh and friction in this book but if that's not what you're looking for in reading material it's not at all overwhelming.
Overall the most disappointing thing for me was the length. And I don't mean that in a "I wish there was more to the story" sort of way, the story was as long as it needs to be, but the page count is a little lower than I'm used to. That's a small quibble however and given the pleasure of experience itself I'm willing to overlook it.
Overall I would say this would be a good introduction to anyone looking to get to know Seanan McGuire as a writer!
