You need To Check this Love Disguise Carol Cox
The main character in this book is funny and resourceful. The story itself is interesting and that is why this book goes down as one of my favorites!
The book follows the main characters Ellie Moore and Steven Pierce. Their relationship plays out very well and is a joy to read. I like how Ellie uses her brain and is not just another main character that needs rescuing from her "prince charming."
The story is a mystery as much as it is a romance. There is great humor and interesting conversations to keep you entertained. I enjoyed every page of this story. I read it in one sitting, as I just couldn't wait to see where the author took the story. I have read other books that try to mix mystery and romance but this one is by far the best. I have this book 5/5 stars because I enjoyed the story and loved the main characters!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
Just finished reading and i must say that it surpassed my expectation. It felt like a movie and i had to force myself to put it down so as to do other things. Definately buying other books from this author.
ReplyDeleteLove in Disguise is a page turner. Ellie Moore needs to be in another adventure! This book should be a series...:D
ReplyDelete"Love in Disguise" is the first book I have read by Author Carol Cox, and if I have anything to say about it, it won't be my last! This fictional novel is wonderfully refreshing and captured my attention right at the onset. This talented author manages to weave an incredible mystery story with such finesse and expertise, that it is sure to grab the interest of discerning readers who enjoy this genre.
ReplyDeleteMs. Cox demonstrates her writing talent by developing her main character, Ellie/Lavinia/Jessie into a likeable, courageous, investigative Pinkerton agent. The somewhat ordinary appearance of Ellie Moore is transformed into an inquisitive old lady (Lavinia) on one had and a gorgeous, drop-dead, red head (Jessie) on the other. All the intrigue occurs in the Wild West in the 1800's as novice investigator Ellie Moore makes her way from Chicago, first by train and then by stagecoach, to get to the bottom of the silver thiefs taking place in a small mining town in Arizona.
The many twists and turns that take place in this well-written novel are nothing short of delightful. There is mystery, subterfuge, a hint of romance, and a touch of faith all thrown in to add to the pleasure of the reading audience. It is my pleasure to read a novel that didn't deem it necessary to be overly explicit in describing love scenes or require the use of any profanity to express a point. Yes..."Love in Disguise" is definitely refreshing and what I consider to be "my cup of tea". Kudos to Author Carol Cox for a job well done!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of the old west. Romance, mystery, and history combined with the author's skill made this a page-turner for me. The twist of the main character being an out of work actress using her talent to forge an entirely different and dangerous career spiced the plot with a unique flavor.
ReplyDeleteAnd the icing on the cake is that the story remained believable.
This was one of the funnest (Yes, Dad, I know funnest isn't technically a real word) books I have read in a long time. It had just the right mix of adventure, excitement, humor, faith and romance. I enjoyed every minute of reading this book.
ReplyDeleteEllie Moore tugs at your heart from the moment you meet her. She is left all alone in the world, in desperate need of a job. When she uses her acting ability to get a job she is plunged into a case in Arizona. Silver has been stolen and she has to find out who has been stealing it and get it back.
One of the things I loved most about this book was what a wholesome, light read it was. So many Christian books these days tackle hard issues and deal with mature subject matter. However, this book was refreshingly light hearted and free from heavy issues. That doesn't mean it didn't have a spiritual flavor, because it did. This book was made for people who just want a fun relaxing read without having to think too hard.
Carol Cox also is very good at sprinkling humor into her books. I laughed out loud many times during this book, prompting my family to ask what was so funny. Of course I had to tell them that they had to read the book.
I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.
I had a great time reading Love in Disguise by Carol Cox. It is more a mystery book than a romance novel, but that made it a breath of fresh air in many ways. The main character, Ellie, is a Pinkerton detective that must use disguises in order to be able to glean the information she needs to find out who has been stealing the silver from the miners in Pickford, AZ. The mystery is interesting and fairly exciting, but the thing I like most is Ellie herself. She is resourceful, spunky, and comes to realize that she has a lot to offer the world as just plain Ellie.
ReplyDeleteThe romantic twist to the book is fun too. I would enjoy reading a second book about Ellie and Steven (one of the miners).
So thanks Bethany House for giving me this book to review. I really enjoyed it!
Well, I am completely new to the blogging and book review world! I absolutely love to read though, and am constantly searching for the next "great" read! As the mother of a toddler, finding a few quiet minutes to spend reading is very rare! So it is very important to me to spend that time wisely and only on books that are worth reading! I have wasted time in the past reading books that were definitely not up to par so hopefully by reading my blog I can help you, the reader, find the best Christian books to occupy your time! This is about a free book I received from Bethany Publishing House. All this being said, on to the book review!!!
ReplyDelete"Love in Disguise" by Carol Cox, was what I deem to be my latest "great" read. With it's endearing characters, comedy, romance, and suspense, this book held my undivided attention each time I picked it up. Set in the 1880's, it tells the story of a young girl desperately trying to figure out where she is going in life and who she really is.
Ellie Moore is out of money and jobless when she hears about a job with the Pinkerton Detective Agency. With her skills in acting and the art of disguise, Ellie sets off on an adventure to help a group of silver miners discover the truth about the recent robberies that could possibly run them all out of business. With herself cleverly disguised as the middle-aged widow, Lavinia Stewart, and Lavinia's niece, the vivacious Jessie Monroe; she finds out secrets that could put her life in jeopardy. Using her disguises, Ellie quickly falls for the handsome mine owner, Steven Pierce. She soon realizes that her heart may not be as easily disguised as she once thought. Ellie will discover a dangerous plot with twists and turns that she and the people of Pickford, Arizona never saw coming!
This book was very entertaining. Trying to keep up with the different personas of Ellie Moore kept my mind guessing at what she would do next. Her character was very relatable because of her desperate need to succeed in everything she did. Her desire to "be herself" with Steven and the Lord helped her stay honest and develop lasting relationships with both. This book was what I would consider to be an "easy" read. The plot and storyline were easy to follow without being to predictable. The mystery was suspenseful and difficult to figure out ahead of the text. The characters were well developed and very entertaining. I give this book two thumbs up and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something worth reading. I look forward to reading more from this author!!!!
