Lover At Last Dagger Brotherhood

First I have to saw that this is the first review I have felt compelled to write. I say this because I have read critical reviews about how the series has progressed. These complaints have come I believe from fans of the series that believed that the continuing plot line would remain the same.
The first eight books brought us in to the brotherhood world and gave us fantastic story's about the brothers, their lives, the type of evil they fought, and how they won their HEA.
I am not going to retell Qhuin and Blays story as I believe anyone reading this has been reading the series. I believe this book is a thrilling and pivotal turning point of the series.
We all knew this story was going to be tough and gritty, and it was, it was also fantastic. Anyone who knows these characters and the history they share as well as Qhuinns emotions and phycological abuse when he was young had to know he was going to be dragged into the reality that he was gay, and there was no shame in his love for Blaylock.
This book is also pivotal because in it many of the secondary characters and their unique situations are becoming increasingly crucial to the war with the Lessers and attempts to dethrone Wrath. These secondary, and newly created characters to me are fantastic as they help expand the wonderful and increasingly detailed world of the brotherhood. I have invested a lot of time in these characters that Ward has created with such fantastic word building and detail right down to the color and design of the luggage.
This series is evolving and growing, suttle plotlines such as what happened to Luchas, Qhuinn's older brother who was put "on ice" by Lash in earlier books is finally answered. This
is but one of many subtle strings that can be mentioned by this great author several times earlier in the series, but easily forgotten about by readers.
To attempt to wrap this up, to the readers who have been following this series and are unhappy that the same pattern of major love interests overcoming different obstacles, fighting and plotting against the "Lessers", and eventually getting their HEA, don't continue the series. Readers who want the series to grow and evolve, that remember "NOW" how many previous times that Trez and his brother were mentioned as royalty or princes in the "Shadow" world (just one small example) and want to know what happens to Trez keep reading. The plot twists just keep getting better. Consider this, it has already been mentioned in several previous books that Beth wants a "young" and Wrath does not, and what do you know those who want to bring down the king are already plotting with ideas related to that.
I LOVED this book and still find Ms Wards writing as complex and amazing as ever, there's at least 8 plotlines hanging wide open with many different outcomes possible, and now the wait begins AGAIN.
My only complaint, and it is one I know all of this series readers have, is that only ONE book per year is very frustrating and I personally think that could affect continuing reader following. There are so many subplots hanging not to mention other questions/explanations not yet answered at the end of this present book. I truly believe that two books a year would help keep this fantastic series fans not as frustrated and not as likely to stop reading this series .

  2. This is a series by J.R. Ward. The sixth book, Phury's book, just came out and the Brothers and their shellans have yet to figure out that John Matthew is Darius reincarnated. Now that all the brother's stories are told, will the series continue?

  3. I've already read Twilight, and I also wanted to be clear that I'm not looking for old romance books, such as Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights, even though I know they are good. So, please give me anything you can think of that is romance but not old, and thank you.

  7. I have read the Hush Hush series, the Fallen series, the twilight series all of which I enjoyed, maybe found them a little too teenager focused for me. I also read fifty shades of grey series which I have to say I found absolutely rubbish. I ended up speed reading them in the end, and skipping past the lame sex parts, which meant I finished the last book in 1/2 a day by doing that. Anyway I am getting a Kindle for Christmas and wondered what good book/series anyone has read that they could recommend :o)
