I love Dead Alive 5 Playstation 3
This time around DOA is pure fist to the face enjoyment. There is far more focus on the fighting than on the eye candy. Which for some of us hardcore fans that is what we like about DOA, but for us fighters who just love to throwdown this is the game for us. It has somewhat the same mechanics as the previous DOA Fighter but the game seems to be much faster making you think on your toes and make some quick adjustments to your fighting tactics.
The game does only one thing wrong...The difficulty levels DO NOT STAY CONSISTENT! I consider myself a veteran at this game so I instantly start ed on hard. Going through arcade mode opponents seem to be right on par with my skill level making the fights "Hard" but then 6 rounds in the fighters seem to not move or be "too easy", also I found that no matter the skill level this happens then 1 or 2 rounds later the game spikes on you jumping up at least 1 or 2 difficulty levels higher. I found myself getting "juggled" and cornered and completely dominated by my opponent. And after switching difficulties the same process happens even on easy mode. The online system is great, the game gives you a community type of feel to it. You are able to challenge fighters you have met through your Fighters Listings. Setting up online tournaments is also really great to do with a few friends.
All and all the game needs a patch or two, and a bit more eye candy with some dlc would be perfect. Since the first 2 dlc packs are out already (one of them free) I know I will continue to buy them all just to support this amazing fighting franchise.
Comparison:
I could easily compare this to Namco's new Tekken Tag Tournament 2 but it seems that with the new game they took out one essential thing that made Tekken...well Tekken! The slow-mo replays are in neither game and it seems Tekken is once again putting out a clone of the last game with hardly any new modes but the customize feature is amazing! I would still pick DOA over Tekken this time around.
DOA 5 is easily a 5 out of 5.
I like RPGs. I have not played that many. I love Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast. I was debating purchasing either a Pikachu 3DS XL or a Playstation Vita, and only to play RPGs. I know that the DS and 3DS have infinitely more RPGs than the Vita, but is Persona 4 Golden such a good game with enough lasting appeal to warrant the purchase of the Vita? I mean, I guess the Vita has better graphics than 3DS and other fun non-RPG title. I'm torn. 3DS or Vita?
