Zebraman Special Edition Akira Emoto

I've only ever seen two of Miike's films, Great Yokai War and this one. I dare say, it's one of the best comedies to ever come out of Japan. I think it should be made apparent that this is far from a kid flick. I believe it was more meant for the fist and second generation Tokusatsu fans who grew up with Kamen Rider and other Henshin heroes. The main hero is a guy who grew up idolizing the underdog of these heroes, Zebraman, whose show flopped after six episodes. Through his interaction with a young boy who through miricle of the Internet had rediscovered his hero, the hero finds the power within himself to become a true hero.

My favorite part of the film is the climatic final battle where Zebraman ascends and becomes a true superhero. The very purpose of this scene is to parrellel the contemporary movement in Japanese media to bring back and modernize classical superheroes with a newer and more high grade appearance. It has been done to Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and even Lion Maru.

Zebraman is worth watching, both for fans of the henshin hero genre, but also those who like comedy. the English voice cast was also pretty okay as far as quality.

As one who enjoys old movies, I had seen Adrian's name next to the credits for costume design in countless movies over the years, but I didn't know anything about this creative genius until I came across this book. The book takes the reader from the early days when Adrian was studying at Parsons in Paris to his early career as a costume designer for the stage in New York and later on in Hollywood mainly for MGM where he was the head of the costume design depart ment. He added glamour to Hollywood through his creations of lavish gowns for Great Garbo, Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford just to name a few. As the creative force in his field, at MGM Adrian was paid a large salary, but he decided to leave the studio and open his own business with the intent to sell his creations in retail and wholesale, this book also covers this period in his life. This new venture took a lot of courage and self confidence, but the gamble paid off. His business enjoyed a great deal of success.

The photography in this book is absolutely gorgeous and I noticed that the headings of each section are printed in silver, this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I appreciate the small details, which I find them appropriate for this part icular book and its subject, a clever touch indeed. Besides the stunning photos, many other gowns are beautifully described by the author. While at MGM, Adrian designed thousands of costume s, but it's unfortunate that most sketchings did not survive as Adrian had them destroyed when he left the studio for fear of someone copying his work.

The very last chapter is appropriately titled "The Adrian Legacy". In this section, one sees how many designers over the years start ing in the 1950s, some of them famous, became inspired by Adrian in creating their own designs. Adrian was and still is truly an inspiration. Highly recommended if you're a old movie buff or into fashion design.

Mozart Le Nozze Figaro Blu ray

This is an intense and unblinking look at human relationships and the social frames in which they are set. It is about our desperate determination to fit into such frames and to uphold them, against our deepest yearnings to transcend them. There are lovelier and funnier versions of Figaro, but I doubt that there is a more gripping exploration of the interplay between the social and the personal, public and private.

The production takes many risks, but it is so daring in conception and so creative in execution that all gambles pay off. The staging is one of complex visual allusions and minutely devised choreography. While not bathed in rococo pink, it is never bleak or monochromatic. The characters dangle in hope and fear, longing to connect and not having the courage to do so. Love is imagined, craved for, groped for, and then suppressed, deemed impractical, pushed aside. Repressive power does not simply emanate from the Count. It is internalized in everyone--albeit to varying degrees. Harnoncourt's tempos allow the opera's emotional intensity to fully unfold and passages of haunting beauty to emerge afresh. A number of scenes have a dream-like quality; they put you into a trance and allow you to truly hear the shades of feeling in the music . It could be called a modernist production, but none of it is there just to be different. It is there to visualize the relationships expressed in the music . It illuminates angles that I had never seen, heard, or imagined before. The comparison to an Ingmar Bergman film is apt in terms of the emotional and erotic charge, the superb use of light and shadow, even the camera-work. The shots from high above the stage , toward the folly, desolation, and--yes--hope below are magnificent. For despite all the loneliness and brutality and despair, there is hope. `Voi che sapete' is the most heavenly I have ever seen. Yes, seen, as this is a performance that you really have to see, not just hear.

This is a version for adults. Dim the lights and let yourself be moved. Our ability to overcome pre-given frames is at the heart of Figaro.

Prue Batten's first historical novel could not be more different from her fantasy Eirie series, and yet the same strengths that make those novels so satisfying make GISBORNE an absolute joy to read. This is a story of a desperate journey of two touchy, suspicious, and independent people who alternately support and misunderstand each other while their world collapses around them.

Ysabel's return home after her mother's death, accompanied by her father's estate manager, begins slowly and sadly enough. Their long slog across 12th century Europe reveals glimpses of a world, in William Manchester's words, lit only by fire. Soon the pace quickens, as loss and danger drive them fearfully onward. Ysabel and Gisborne forge an uneasy alliance that somehow manages to endure death, dirt, terror, loss and the beginning of a love that will cause them as much despair as happiness.

Taking readers to 12th century Aquitaine and England is as much of a challenge as taking them to any fantasy world. Batten's understanding of this world is profound, and she wears her learning lightly enough to make every potentially jarring historical fact seem natural. The flow of the narrative glides around and over the details of daily life, and illuminates the characters rather than distracting from their story. Her characters also seem products of their time, and not transplants from 1190 dressed up in Gothic costume . Ysabel's acceptance of disasters that befall her and Gisborne's drive to succeed under the political realities of his time reveal a strong-mindedness that must have been absolutely necessary for survival in that remote age.

In her previous books, set as they were in a world of folk-tale and legend, characters were few and appear as people in fairytales do: to fulfill a specific purpose with great economy. GISBORNE, however, is filled with a wonderful variety of characters from all levels of society from kitchen slaves to kings, and Batten gives each of them an individual voice and soul. All the characters in this book seem to have a tart ness and strength that helps the reader endure their hopes and disappointments, and look forward to the next stage in their adventures.

Great The Greatest Journey Essential Collection

The Greatest Journey Essential Collection

There are many reasons to purchase this excellent, albeit, review collection, but the greatest one in my opinion is the talk you will encounter with Mr. Music himself, the genius that not only in song selections, but in talent refinement. David Downes is the maestro both in front of an audience with his vigorous direction and sensitive piano playing. But he is much more than that. Youthful in appearance and precise in his language, David will tell you if you listen closely to his words how the "magic" ( as Orla put it in her interview-she charmingly said, "something happened, we don't know quite what it was- a bit of magic)occured to make CW the MUST SEE MUST HAVE DVD and CD collections that we all cherish. We love each and every presentation and David says he chose the songs HE likes to hear, with contrasts-peaceful-then rousing. I trust his choices and I laud his own compositions: "The Blessing", "One World" and the superb, "The Soft Good-bye". The purchase of this DVD is a must for all CW fans, and for New Comers because of the wonderful words of David Downes and how he loves music , loves the voices of these singers he prods and polishes to perfection. He also says in another interview,"I can't get enough of Mairead Nesbitt", the dancing fiddler with the flying blond tresses- He knew she would weave the tapestry around these singers... You actually want to break down in tears when they sing-it is such a wonderful media experience and now with their new over 50 cities tour-people from New York to California and points in-between will get the benefit to enrich their lives brought to us by this Irish Music al Genius that is David Downes-buy it today and learn from him why CW is what it is today at this point and time in history. AND . . . Maeve fans (of which I am one) will NOT be disappointed-she is there with her regal polished lilting soprano gracing the stage and blending with the others who are exceptional performers in their own talents-including the wonderous Hayley Westernra -the enchanting , compelling Lisa Kelly, the youthful voice from heaven- Chloe Agnew and the Irish embodiment of polished presentation in songs for now and long ago -Orla Fallon which makes us long for Ireland and the spiritual journey we can take by listening to her-and to all of them

Meredith Willsons The Music Film

When I first watched Matthew Broderick's interpretation of the character of Harold Hill, I didn't like it but, realizing that I was locked into Robert Preston's portrayal, I thought I should give Broderick's approach a little more time before making a final judgement. Well, I did and Broderick's interpretation grew on me until now, I enjoy it as much as Preston's. I realize Robert Preston almost created the role but, in the art s, we should never get so stuck on one approach that we're not open to fresh interpretations.
Of course, Kristin Chenoweth'a performance of Marian is elegantly superb.
What a voice, and acting talent to match. One of the things that impresses me so much about Chenoweth is that she can, in spite of her training as an opera singer, adapt to any style of singing, be it pop, gospel, theater, classical, and sound authentic doing it. Too often we hear opera singers performing a Broadway song and still sounding like an opera singer.
Bravo for a wonderful show.

Weird Al Yankovic Live Alpocalypse

I had the pleasure of seeing "Weird" Al Yankovic when he was on "The Alpocalypse Tour" in 2011 and was wondering why he didn't have a dvd of this tour. I'm glad he finally made one and it doesn't get any weirder than Al. Although singing "Canadian Idiot" was concidered a compliment for the folks there in Canada, (which the concert was filmed), but that's what Yankovic does. When he parody's your song, he's a fan and is paying you a compliment in his "weird" way. If you are a fan then you will really like this show. He not only does his major hits like "Eat It", and "Fat" but his new hit singles "Part y In The CIA" and "Perform This Way", which he appears on stage in a peacock costume , poking fun at Gaga in a way. Each song has a costume change that goes with the theme of that song and it makes it a lot more fun to watch too. Special features are really hillarious to watch, especially his youtube videos and unseen concert footage. But if you are a Yankovic fan then you will really like this dvd!

Immortals

This is really the movie they should have made. The original Clash of the Titans was horribly cheesy, but great at that time. The 2010 remake left a lot to desire. Immortals is a spectacular movie that does so much right. It's amazing if you get over the fact that mythology isn't being represented very well which I fully understand people will hate this movie for.

This movie was much better than 300, which I didn't part icularly care for. I think the pacing is a bit weird, it's a little too dark sometimes, pretentious and assuming at other times, but this is definitely one of the best graphic novel movies that have come out. Sin City was great, but it felt too forced at times and got really goofy. This movie managed to keep it's darkness more evil than campy.

It's certainly not for everyone as the reviews show, but this was by far one of my top 5 movies of 2011. This hasn't been a great year with movies as much as it has been an amazing TV season... but the movies of 2011 I've watched several times and know I'll watch again would be this, along with Limitless Unrated Cut, Horrible Bosses, and (gasp) In Time. There are a few better movies, but some movies just don't have great replay value. These are this year's movies that I've already watched several times and know I will want to watch again. I'm not saying they're the best, they're just the movies I know I'll enjoy watching again down the road.

I purchased this at costco today for the same price, sue me. lol

I purchased this for my daughter. She was in a school play and needed a couple of final touches to a "dark" themed costume . I found this and it looked perfect. However, sometimes seeing something online and then in person can be a very different experience. When we received this, it was BETTER than expected. The hat is very well made and is covered with quality material.

It comes packaged well with the choker, glasses and the hat. Another great feature is the hat has a clear "stretchy" piece attached to it where it can be placed behind your ears and under your chin. This keeps the hat in place very well and was not visible at all on the stage ! This is not your typical cheaply made halloween costume (believe me, with 3 kids, I have plenty of experience with those). The ribbon on the hat matches the choker and the glasses are sturdy too.

The red coloring on the hat and choker are very vibrant. I recommend this set!

Catch Thief Blu ray Grace Kelly

This movie is pure entertainment. Hitchcock loved Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, food and the south of France, and it all shows here. They must have had a wonderful time making this terrific film and we are lucky to have this record of it.

Grace Kelly must have been about 25, pristinely lovely as a white gardenia in full bloom. She's more than just a beautiful blond though and brings something of charm and intelligence of the mature woman she is on the verge of becoming. (Too bad she married that playboy prince and ruined it all...but that's another story.) Cary Grant, ultra tan as was the fashion at that time, is still very handsome and, at 50, is almost mesmerizingly charming. The chemistry between the two, despite the age difference, is terrific. At first Grant holds back, being a gentleman, but Kelly pursues and at the end, she catches her thief.

To me this is more of a love story than a mystery and I didn't care in the least who the real cat burglar was...but maybe that's cuz I am a woman.

The censorship of the 50's was much more strict than in our times, which, I think, heightened the charm of the romance. Alone together in her hotel room, with Kelly looking like a goddess from the moon in her white chiffon dress, one wonders how Grant can keep his cool for as long as he does. When they finally kiss (!) we are treated to shots of fireworks through the balcony window. It may sound corny but it is tremendously effective and very sweet. Bring back Romance!

The visuals are splendid--there's plenty of beauty to fill up every screen, whether it's shots of the blue blue sea, French chefs in mile-high hats or a flower market filled with pink and red blooms. The costume s are lavish. In the opening credits, a travel poster brags, "If you love life, you'll love France!" I think that pretty much sums up this picture.

You need To Check this Handel Agrippina Veronique Gens

Handel Agrippina Veronique Gens

Yeah, yeah, the fright wigs are hideous and the costume s are kitsch. The silent spectres that lurk around the edges of the scenes are pretentious and distracting. There are no visual rewards in the production, despite some fine camera work and editing. It's 'yo mamma' ugly. The only virtue of such creepy visuals is that your eyes are not distracted from the sub-titles.

But the singing! OMG! I've never heard better singing, from the whole cast, live on stage , on CD, or on any other Handel DVD. Soprano Veronique Gens is transcendent in the role of Agrippina, but soprano Ingrid Perruche is almost as good as Poppea. Male soprano Philippe Jaroussky has to be considered a gift from the Gods of Music to our undeserving generation; he sings the role of the decadent boy Nero with such sly inflections of malevolence that even his purple Afro can be ignored. Countertenor Thierry Gregoire is handicapped by wearing the only non-absurd costume in the production, making him look helplessly wimpy, but when he gets an aria to sing he delivers such suave vocal control that his hapless physical presence is forgiven. Bass Nigel Smith sings a robust but graceful Claudius. There isn't an awkward ornament or a dubious tuning to be heard in the entire ensemble. Likewise the orchestra and continuo: superb tuning, rhythmic perfection, complete authority of style! Even seated in his office chair at the podium, conductor Jean-Claude Malgoire coaxes both high energy and tasteful delicacy out of his period-instrument orchestra. The music al values of this production are too great to carp about costume s, or to deduct a star from one's rating. Music ally, this is the best Handel currently available on DVD.

Agrippina was composed for an English audience while Handel's heart and mind were still in Italy. In fact, several of the best arias were recycled from cantatas that Handel had composed in Rome. It helps, I think, to have singers like Gens and Jaroussky, and a whole cast of Romance language speakers, singing this highly Italianate opera. Their pronunciation/art iculation is precise and proper enough to be understood, and their ensemble is tightened by their shared sense of the language.

Two previous reviewers have criticized the acting of these singers. Once again, I have to say that their best defense is the quality of their vocal technique. Nevertheless, given the ludicrous costume s, I didn't find the acting so shabby. Each character is assigned a single constant affect -- that's the dramaturgical scheme here -- and each maintains her/his affect effectively. Nerone is a perverse little creep, a spoiled mama's boy who (we know) will have his mama murdered as soon as he gets a chance. Poppea is a sly slut. Agrippina is "a pit bull with lipstick" who fully expects to be the real emperor once her silly boy Nero is enthroned.

The sound recording on opera DVDs DOES matter. Fortunately, in this case the techies were as good as the performers. This Agrippina is an acoustical milestone.

Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom Xbox 360

Before I start this review I just wanted to address the whole "this should be DLC" argument. Now I'm fully aware that the original MvC3 came out back in February and that it had two DLC characters, Jill and Shuma-Gortah. It's this very argument that most people use to criticize Capcom's decision for re-releasing MvC3 so early. What most people don't realize is that if Capcom were to release all this new content as DLC it would have costed more, not only that but it would have been impossible. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has 12 additional characters. 8 new stage s, 3 new game modes, a new net code for better online play, and a much more diverse fighting system (but I'll get into that later). Now keep in that the DLC memory limit for Xbox 360 games is 2 Gigabits and that DLC memory takes much more than a core game. I bring this up mainly because back in June Capcom released the final installment of the "Street Fighter 4" series as DLC. The DLC pack contained 4 new characters and more additions to the games replay feature. This DLC bundle was 650 Megabits and it doesn't have nearly half the content Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 does. If Capcom were to have chosen to release UMvC3 as a DLC pack we wouldn't have half the content we're getting in the retail release.

Alright, time for the actual review.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a truly fantastic fighting game and offers so many unique team parings that it can keep players coming back for years to come. As I mentioned before the game has 12 additional characters from the previous version. The characters for the Marvel side are Ghost Rider (Ghost Rider series), Hawkeye (The Avengers), Dr.Strange (Dr.Strange comics), Iron Fist (Iron Fist series), Rocket Raccoon (Guardians of the Galaxy series), and Nova (Nova Corps). As for the Capcom side the new additions are Strider (Strider series and long time "versus" character), Firebrand (Demons Crest and Ghost n' Goblins), Nemesis (Resident Evil 3), Vergil (Devil May Cry 3), Frank West (Dead Rising franchise), and Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney franchise). It may have been said already by others, but this lineup of new characters brings so much more to the table than the old roaster did. Almost all the characters change how the game is played (especially Phoenix Wright and Frank West).

I also said that there are new stage s and it's kinda true. Instead of giving us entirely new stage s we are left with new visions of present stage s. For example, the Resident Evil test lab is now on fire with various creatures running about when in the original game it was just a basic lab (keep in mind you have access to both versions of each stage in this game). In all honesty though, I myself don't care about the stage s to much because I'm always caught up in the fighting when it comes to these types of games, but it's still nice to have verity, which is what this game has. The game's net code (AKA the games online) is great this time around, there's little to no lag. You have the options to play ranked matches, quick matches, player matches, or lobbies with friends. Lobbies were a much needed addition and I'm overjoyed they finally included one in this game. When you're in spectator mode the fight runs smoothly and you can cheer your friends on as they fight until it's your turn. It's a real fun experience and truly makes the game more fun and longer lasting.

The game also has online modes (obviously) such as arcade mode, mission mode (teaches you how to play each character), versus (play against friends locally), and training mode (which is very useful in this game). You also have the option to play at the final boss "Galactus" in arcade mode, who was never playable in the original MvC3. Also, Capcom has said to have a new mode coming out as post launch free DLC, this mode is called "Heroes and Heralds". This mode gives the player access to other characters from both the Marvel and Capcom universe as cards that give special abilities to the characters you're playing as. Some of the abilities are invisibility, power boost, air dashes, and projectile invincibility. This mode should be out soon or even at the moment you're reading this review (I'm writing this in November of 2011).

In closing I'd just like to say I gave the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3 a 3 out of 5 stars for lack of content. I consider this game that much of an improvement over it's previous version. There is a huge verity of characters and play styles, the online is smooth running and lobbies are extremely fun with friends, mission mode is extremely useful for people just learning the game, and the "Heroes and Heralds" mode looks to inflate the games staying power. The fighting genre is coming back and it's games like this that made it one of the best to begin with. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a game anyone can pick up and play, as well as master. It has enough depth to be taken seriously and casual enough to play with family or friends whenever they are over. With such a low price and for as much content this game is offering it's a steal.

Commedia della Morte Novel Saint Germain

In this 25th book of the Saint-Germain saga, we follow the count in his rescue mission to save his beloved Madelaine from the guillotine, for Madame la Guillotine is eager for blood, noble blood, clergy blood, common blood or vampire blood, she does not care, and the guillotine would be as deadly to vampires as she is to the living.
The count, or Ragoczy, travels with a troupe of Commedia dell'Arte players through France. As a patron to the group, he provides the money and as a member of the troupe, he plays the cimbalom on stage , with a mask and a costume . The leader of the troupe is the beautiful and passionate Photine. She enjoys the count's lovemaking, but her troupe and her son are more important to her.
When the rescue mission is taking more time and getting more difficult, the Commedia della Morte is becoming more famous through their performances, and the goals of the troupe members are changing. The count still wants to save Madelaine, Photine wants applause and money, Theron the poet wants fame, Feo the coachman gains the counts trust, and Enee, Photine's son, wants the count dead!
In this book, the count is more determined and more ruthless than in the previous novels, but for him, Madelaine is so very dear to him that he would do everything in his power to save her!
History is horror, even more in this book, when the Terror took more lives than any vampire could!

I love My Week Marilyn Michelle Williams

My Week Marilyn Michelle Williams

I'm old enough to remember seeing most of Marilyn Monroe's films on the big screen when they were released. And I'm sure I had her pinup somewhere in my room. I'm sorry she never finished her last film "Something's Gotta Give" but, as I was watching Michelle Williams in the new film, I felt I was seeing a "New" Marilyn film. Williams was perfect casting. And I had never seen her before. I missed "Blue Valentine". She really channels Monroe and is both sexy and introspective.

As you have probably read - I won't go over the plot again, as others have surely done that here - the film is based on Colin Clark's journal about the week he spent on the set of the film that eventually became "The Prince and The Showgirl". I can't think of a male over age 18 that won't think - while watching this film - "Wow! If only I was in Clark's position!" And I'm sure many will dream of that! Honestly, I can't say how this plays out from the point of the female viewer.

No this is not an "epic" film but rather the kind of small "Quality" films that the Weinstein Company finds and releases. (Just look at "The Artist", "The Descendants" and "The Iron Lady"; all with superb casting and lots of Oscar noms.). And for that I can recommend it highly. It's not long - at just 99 minutes.

Both the DVD and the Blu-ray have the same bonus features. These include a full length commentary by Director Simon Curtis as well as a 19-minute " The Untold Story of An American Icon", which is the now-typical "making of" featurette which mixes comments from the cast and production crew with scenes from the film. There a few actually newsreels clips of Monroe included, but not enough to mention. And there is nothing included putting this "week of filming in England" into perspective with the rest of Monroe's career or the culture of the times. A short documentary on Monroe would have added greatly to the experience for viewers who were not alive during Monroe's life.

My five-stars are based on the film itself, as I want to encourage others to see it. But if I had to rare the package as a whole it would be 4 stars.

I hope you found this information both helpful and informative

I ordered these curtains in the brown color. I was very concerned about the quality since other reviews were not favorable. I hate cheap looking stuff all together, but these curtains were FAR FROM CHEAP LOOKING! I was very pleased by the drape, weight, finish and overall appearance of these curtains. I only needed one panel for a window, but since it came with two I had to be creative. I ended up using the second panel along with a tension rod to cover our stairway entrance at night. We found that our TV noise traveled up the stair way and was just as loud upstairs as it was down. So, I used the curtain panel as a "door" to help absorb sound. I was so excited that it actually WORKED! I'm planning on ordering more for other rooms in the house and like the price very much. I would recommend to a friend.

Wow, what can be said about Queensryche that I can add that hasn't already been said. Through the ups and downs, highs and lows, career milestones, and career missteps, this band on stage , you can always expect a kick ass rock n roll show and this one does not disappoint. Geoff Tate may be an acquired taste from some, but you've gotta give the guy love, for always giving it his all when performing...he immerses himself in the performance, like a singer possessed. The band, hey even without Chris is Stellar! Scott's Rocken the Drums as always, man he's a Monster on the kit. Visually and audio wise this is top notch. Editing and sound quality are perfect. And I like the feature where you can select with whole Mindcrime experience or just I or II. I was not a big fan of Mindcrime II upon release, but this concert has me revisiting that album again, and it is good.

Great Phantom Opera Royal Albert Hall

Phantom Opera Royal Albert Hall

I had gotten this for my dad for a Christmas present but had to wait til the February release date in the states. The shipping was prompt and the order received right on time which happened to be during a month long work training session out of town for me, but my dad waited til I got home til he watched it. We had seen Phantom in LA when I was about 12 for the first time, as soon as it was over I looked at him and said "I want to see it again!" and within a week he had tickets for us to see it again in the 3rd row. Since then we have seen it together at least a dozen times between LA, Dallas (where we live now), and flying to New York twice to see it. While other members of my family enjoy Phantom, it has always been a special connection between my dad and I. Tonight we watched this performance together and I hugged him after the overture for how amazing this was going to be. By the time "The Phantom of the Opera" played, I had squished by 22 year old self into my dad's chair with him and pretend I was a little girl again enjoying Phantom for the first time. Christine was the best I have ever seen or heard, with such emotion behind her voice and expressions that she brought me to tears in a few scenes. Best Christmas present I have ever spent money on for me and my dad to now be able to enjoy this in our own home, which I hope won't replace the trips to New York to see it live!

This is a must for any Phantom fan, I wouldn't recommend for people who haven't seen it live just because you cannot fully start to imagine what that experience is like, but for anyone, this is as close as it will get.

I love Andrew Lloyd Webbers Love Never

Andrew Lloyd Webbers Love Never

Look, I won't go into what this beautiful music al is about since others have already said plenty . My biggest issue with some other reviewers, NOT all, is that too many are stuck on the original "Phantom of the Opera". POTO is wonderful but I don't consider any one music al to be a masterpiece. As a matter of fact, I judge them each on its own merits and some I like more than others. Personally, I like "Love Never Dies" better than "Phantom of the Opera". It would profit others to be more open-minded to the music al.

Furthermore, I am thoroughly impatient with snobs who are very nit picky and demand that events more closely resemble the original Gaston Leroux book. Grow up,already! So the sequel has nothing to do with Leroux's book but is based on "Phantom of Manhattan" which I never did read just the original. Just for your information, a sequel DOES NOT mean it should be a continuation of the same plot line. Sequels are meant to move the story along. So, LND takes place in America on Coney Island which is a place with which I am familiar. In the early 1900s it would be a perfect place to hide anonymously among people whom society deemed misfits and not fit to socialize among the rest of the population. Besides, Andrew LLoyd Webber mentioned in an interview that he always considered POTO to be a cliffhanger and he always wanted to do a follow-up music al for the past 20 years.

Also, some have issues with how the characters have changed from the original. Well, if anyone went through a traumatic experience such as the fire at the Opera Populaire then people
do change for the better or the worse. Some become weaker, some stronger depending how deeply those individuals are affected. Christine, Erik, Raoul, Madame Giry, and Meg Giry would not be the same people as before the fire. As for the continuation of the date line and other minor points not making sense to others I say: yada, yada, yada! The Australian version was reworked and for those who DO possess an imagination pretend that there is no continuation flow. I did and it works great! Again, that falls under nit picky, nit picky, nit picky! Please DO grow up!

Lastly, to each his own. If you've given this music al piece a chance and still don't like it, well, that's that. Nobody will like everything someone else does.
