I ordered two of these costume s, along with several other costume s, and this was by far the highest-quality costume . It looked great. There is a slight gap between the bottom of the pants and the top of the socks (on both my actors), especially if you're moving around a lot, so you might want to put on a pair of red or green tights underneath, or have a taller pair of red or green socks/stockings under the red and white striped socks. Also, the web site didn't let you specify special shipping, and it's not easy to get in touch with this vendor, which seems like it might be a one-guy operation. That's okay (if it helps keep costs down) Very nice guy, but this isn't his only job. Email is best for getting in touch with him once the order's been placed. Just plan ahead if you need the costume and allow normal shipping time. I ordered these Thanksgiving night and they arrived the following Friday. The costume looked really great on my elves. We performed an original music al for about 5,000 people in an outdoor concert and everyone loved it. I know the costume s were just the right touch!

Broadway Tails is a gem of a book for animal lovers and Broadway theater lovers and for those who are neither. Author Berloni's love for his animals is obvious on every page as he prepares them for the Broadway stage. And most importantly he sees that the animals are well cared for after the closing of the show. Recently I shared this book in a presentation with the Sisters of St. Francis, Rochester, MN. I often present classes on the Broadway musicals and this one was a HIT, with Katie and Joey, two collies, assisting me. The nuns loved it as they related their stories about their pets. Katie and Joey never had so many hugs and kisses and applause.

ReplyDeleteExcellent book for the dog lover. I heard the author and animal lover Bill Berloni interviewed on PBS radio, and had to read the book. It's full of stories and pictures about the dogs and other animals he's rescued and trained for Broadway and TV shows.

ReplyDeleteThis book is a great book for animal lovers. The gentleman who rescused these animals is a very dedicated animal lover. He also is a great person who knows how to treat animals, but also has great respect for them. The stories are very heart warming and shows us a side to "show business" that we usually are not aware of in our day to day lives. It is very enjoyable and good for vacations or a Sunday afternoon instead of TV.
ReplyDeleteI bought this book as a gift to my daughter. We both have/had several rescue dogs and know how wonderful and smart they are. Most are so eager to please that they learn rapidly at any age. Anyone in a position to have a dog should go to the local shelter and bring one of these wonderful animals into their family.

ReplyDeleteNot only are the dog stories fantastic, but Bill also does a great job of keeping the reader engaged with details of show biz. If more people could understand dogs (animals) the way Bill does, the world would be a better place.
ReplyDeleteBill Berloni is not only a fantastic writer, but also a trainer. I have been fortunate enough to work with one of his trainers and a "Sandy" and was highly impressed by the detail and dedicated both dog and trainer put in. The fact that the dogs are all rescued and have a home waiting for them when they retire from the theatre, only increases the amount of respect I have for him. Well done!
ReplyDeleteA lot has been said about how cruel it is to train animals and make them perform in public. While there may be some truth in this, this author who has more than 20 years experience training animals to perform live in braodway plays-and even in a ballet-has relied on care, support and insight into the characteristics of the animal for his success. The book makes for pleasant, entertaining reading and the author makes it seem simple enough for you to want to try your hand at some animal training of your own!

And the work he's done rescuing and training dogs over 30 years is a remarkable testament to his humanity and creativity. An extremely entertaining read, for animal, as well as theater, lovers.
