I'm Happy after buyingThis Fiddler on the Roof
`Fiddler on the Roof' released in '71 has been called by many as a celebration of the Jewish spirit. While that is a correct perception, it's not limited to being simply a "Jewish" experience. This amazing film is a inspiration to all, Jew and non-Jew, serving as a universal affirmation of the inner strength and faith within each and everyone of us. The faith and traditions that make us who we are and help us face the challenges that await in this everchanging, often hostile environment.
For Tevye (Haim Topol), a poor, kind-hearted husband and father of five daughters it's his love for God and family that keeps him strong enough to face the continual trials and tribulations brought about by pressures both within his faith community as well as the greater community-at-large. His spirituality is expressed to all by his devotion and adherence to the faith and traditions of Judaism, which are personified on-screen by a solitary fiddler that only Tevye can see.
This film will make you laugh and it will make you cry as it takes the viewer through the full gamit of human emotions. Thank you Norman Jewison for directing such a beautiful film and thank you Topol for becoming the living embodiment of Tevye, Shalom Aleichem's literary creation.
I have recently been chosen to be the first violin in the orchestra pit for Fiddler on the Roof. I have not received any music yet and would really like to get a head start. Where can I find the sheet music online (free), just for that first solo at the beginning of the play?
ReplyDeleteI just got cast as Hodel in my high school's production of Fiddler on the Roof, and my question is how important is she to the story's plot?
ReplyDeleteHi my school is putting on fiddler on the roof in April and audition are in February, and I really want to be a Reb Tevye. It would be great if you could find a 1-2 min monologue.
ReplyDeleteIn a stage performance of Fiddler on the Roof, how does the character of The Fiddler assume his position on the stage roof (then play or mime, concentrating on his performance) without actually endangering himself?
ReplyDeleteI love good, clean Broadway musicals. How good is the movie Fiddler on the Roof?
ReplyDeleteMy church might put on a production of fiddler on the roof and I was wondering if there is a girl lead? If there is, what is the character's name? And does she have a solo song?
ReplyDeleteI would really like the orchestra part, not some solo book to Fiddler on the Roof. Where are we able to purchase just the clarinet or reed 2 orchestration.
ReplyDeleteI am planning on trying out for chava in a production of fiddler on the roof, and i was wondering what vocoal part does she have. I am a second soprano so does that mean my voice is to high for that part?
