I love The Movement
When a band has produced so much stellar music it is hard to say that any one record is their strongest. This album, however, DELIVERS. Whether or not you are a long time fan of Rusted Root, or just looking for something with substance to capture you, this record will be the most fun you've had in a long time. The kaleidoscope of percussion and rhythms throughout reflect the influences of both the members of the band, and of the evolution their music has taken. Strong songs like "Up and All Around", "The Movement", and "Cover Me Up", have been "moving and grooving" listeners in live performances for awhile, and it is a treat to hear the studio versions of these songs. You can hear the growth of the seeds that were planted long ago (in stairwells and hallways) on the more avante-garde tracks like "In Our Sun", and from songs previously done solo like "Fossil Man" and "Sun and Magic", which is one of the most beautiful songs written. Rusted Root fans will recognize familiar themes in the lyrics--love, trust, fun, honesty, beauty and surrender, which connect with people on a very deep level. The funky grooves (even disco beats!), textures, melodies, voices, and strong instrumentals make this a truly fulfilling listening experience.
